23rd Correspondence Chess Olympiad

Thursday, September 14, 2023: Preliminaries

On behalf of the ICCF, I’m pleased to announce the 23rd Correspondence Chess Olympiad.

All ICCF Member Federations (that are not currently suspended) are invited to enter their team to this event, wich will be played on the ICCF web-server on two rounds: Preliminaries and Final.   Each Federation may enter only one team.

The Preliminaries will start on 22 January 2024.

There will be 6 players in each team.  A maximum of 3 players may be replaced during the tournament.

The number of teams that will be promoted to the Final and the promotion criteria will be determined by the TTC and approved by the ICCF Executive Board immediately before the start of the tournament (ICCF Rule 1.2.1.7.7).

The entry fee will be € 12 per player, i.e. € 72 per team.  There will be no further entry fee for the Final.

Team entries have to be sent by the National Federations to the Title Tournament Commissioner Gian-Maria Tani (g.m.tani.iccf@gmail.com) no later than 10 December 2023.

After this date no replacement or board change will be allowed, unless exceptional circumstances arise.

All entries must include the following details:

  • board order
  • name and ICCF code of the players
  • name and ICCF code of the Team Captain

For title norm purposes, rating numbers will be taken from the ICCF Rating List 2024/1. If a player has not yet started any ICCF play, his FIDE current rating may be used if the player wishes, with a Rating Deviation (RD) of 150. If a player has no ICCF rating and does not have or wish to use a FIDE rating, than his initial rating is 1800, with a RD of 250 (ICCF Rule 1.4.3).
