• 8 Sections with 13 players each (i.e. 104 players)
• Category VIII (average rating of all Sections: 2444)
• Players from 40 different National Federations
• 1 or 2 players from Russia and Germany and no more than 1 player from any other country in each Section
• 8 GM; 29 SIM; 46 IM; 17 CCM; 1 CCE; 1 LGM
• 1 GM in each Section
• The winner and the runner-up of each Section (i.e. 16 players) qualify to a WCCC Candidates’ Tournament
