It is with pleasure and honor that I welcome you to the "Zoltan Sarosy Memorial"
in memory of ICCF IM Zoltan Sarosy.
ICCF IM Zoltan Sarosy passed away on 22 June 2017,
at the age of 110! He would have been 111 on 23 August of 2017! He was
the oldest man in Canada at the time of his death,
and quite possibly the oldest titled chess player in the world ever!
He was a long time member of the Canadian CC Association and
won the Canadian CC Championship three times in 1967, 1972 and 1981.
He earned his ICCF IM title in 1988 at the age of 82!
There is a very informative and interesting bio
obituary of Zoltan at the following link posted at
the Chessbase website.

This is a server event.
The start date was 1/15/2018.
There is no end date.
ICCF standard time control 10 moves in 50 days with duplication after 20 days is used.
If a player exceeds allowed thinking time in any way, the player will automatically be scored with a loss. Under some circumstances all of the player’s games will subsequently be cancelled (if not already rated).
45 days of leave per year are available to each player.
There is no special leave in this event.
Linear conditionals can be entered.
This tournament allows claims based on the six piece tablebase. The 50-moves-rule is not applied in positions with seven or fewer pieces.
Players cannot agree to a draw before move 30.
Draw offers are essentially restricted to one offer per player per game (called the Code of Conduct draw rule). See 2017 Playing Rules-Server 2d and/or TD Manual-Server 11.3.3 for details.
Ties are broken by the Baumbach tie breaking rule (see ICCF rule 188.8.131.52).
If needed, adjudicators will be selected by the server.
Other participants can see the games only when they are finished, and at least 10 games are finished in the event.
The public can see the games only when they are finished, and at least 10 games are finished in the event.
