David Lafarga Santoroman passed away with only 52 after a long and courageous fight against a pancreatic cancer. We remember him mainly for his good heart and fellowship.
He obtained the IM and SIM titles in 2005 and the GM title in 2007. His rating has been fairy above 2600 since 2006. David was an excellent team player and TC, so we have no doubt that he was the main reason behind Spain's achievements in the Olympiads where we have earned three medals, the last defending successfully our first board despite his struggle against the illness.
He also spent time within the AEAC organization and was elected President in 2011. Unfortunately his illness was soon after diagnosed which did not allow him materialize his projects.
He’s love to chess expanded to teaching and coaching young players and to on the board tournaments where he excelled also, winning several times the Provincial championship.
