Aleksandr Surenovich Dronov (Russia) is the new World Champion!

Due to the better tie-break Aleksandr Dronov achieved the first place in the final no. 22. (11,5 points, SB 87,25). Jürgen Bücker (Germany) is the new Vice World Champion (11,5 points, SB 80,25) and Joop J. van Oosterom (Netherlands) achieved the third place (11 points).

In accordance with the tournament announcement, entries through member federations have now closed, but entry is still possible by Direct Entry before 31^st July, from players in countries which are participating in ICCF’s Direct Entry scheme.

There has been a magnificent response by veteran players, with the total number of entries already reaching 340 (total in VWC2 was 273) and some more are expected before closing on 31^st July.
