In accordance with the tournament
announcement, entries through member federations have now closed, but
entry is still possible by Direct Entry before 31st July,
from players in countries which are participating in ICCF’s Direct
Entry scheme.
There has been a magnificent response
by veteran players, with the total number of entries already reaching
340 (total in VWC2 was 273) and some more are expected before closing
on 31st July.
The Tournament Plan is to have
Preliminary Groups (each of 13 players) starting on 1st
September 2010, closing play on 29th February 2012. Three
players from each group will qualify for Semi-final groups (1/6/12 to
30/11/13), with 2 players from each Semi-final guaranteed places to
the Final.
Around 25th July, the number
of groups of 13 players will be decided (likely to be 27 or 28) and
any entries thereafter will be placed on a reserve list, in strict
order of arrival, to be allocated places, if vacancies arise before
30th September 2010. Otherwise, entry fees will be
refunded via DE system.
Preliminary Groups will be formed (as
near as possible) with equivalent average ratings and spread of ICCF
titled players, with no groups having more than 2 participants from
the same country.
All Tournament Directors will be from
the sponsoring organisation, The Scottish Correspondence Chess
Association. Appeals judge will be Mr. George WG Livie IA. Mr.
George D. Pyrich IA will be TD for the Veterans World Cup 2
Semi-finals to be started on 1st June 2011
Attached is updated list of entries
received at 17th July. Please advise me quickly of any
corrections.
