ICCF Congress - Seixal, Portugal 2002 It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend this year's ICCF Congress, to be held in the Seixal Municipality of Portugal (just South of Lisbon) in the Quinta da Valenciana, Fernao Ferro, from 5th to 12th October 2002, organised by C.N.X.C, the Portuguese CC Federation.

Details of the registration and accommodation arrangements and requirements are contained with the host federation's invitation documents, which are also enclosed herewith. These should be carefully studied and it is important that your reservations are made in accordance with the timescale and procedures described by our hosts.

There will be a meeting of the ICCF Presidium in the afternoon of Saturday 5th October in the main Congress Hotel, and those concerned are kindly requested to arrange their travel plans to enable their participation in this meeting, which will commence at 15.00.

The Congress will be opened at 10am prompt on Sunday 6th October in the Municipal Buildings, Seixal and families and friends accompanying delegates to the Congress are warmly invited to attend this ceremony. Meetings of Congress will begin immediately after the official Opening Ceremony, in the same location. It is probable that the Sunday afternoon will be reserved for some discussion groups on important topics, with plenary sessions of Congress continuing on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

A full day excursion will take place on Thursday 10th October, with the Closing Banquet being held on the evening of Friday 11th October. Further details of the "social" programme will be issued by our hosts, in due course, when the arrangements have been finalised.

To allow for the early release of Congress invitations and further time for the preparation of discussion documents for the Congress, detailed Agenda and supporting papers will be issued around the end of July. This should allow sufficient time for pre Congress consideration and all Congress Reports will also be distributed before the end of August to all Congress participants, for advance reading. No reports will be "read" during the Congress, as it is most important that the maximum possible time is made available for full discussions of all important topics, including the continuing review of all ICCF Rules.

Those voting federations which are unable to be represented in Portugal by their official delegate should refer to Para 4.1.9 of the ICCF Statutes, where alternative ways of voting are defined. It is very important that all authorities are provided in writing to the General Secretary, under sub-paragraphs (a), (b) or (c), to reach him not later than 15th September 2002. Each voting member federation is earnestly encouraged to exercise its voting right, either by specific declaration or by means of a proxy.

Finally, we would kindly ask you to confirm receipt of this invitation letter to the ICCF General Secretary, informing him whether you will be able to attend this year's meeting of the ICCF Congress.

We hope all ICCF officials and member federation delegates will make a special effort to attend our first Congress in the Iberian Peninsula, and we look forward very much to meeting you in Portugal, in October !
